Recently there's been a lot of discussion surrounding our preferred Swedish automaker's Scalable Platform Architecture (SPA). That's because several redesigning models, including the Volvo XC90, scheduled to arrive in our Moline, IL showroom next year, will feature this fresh and flexible structure.

In fact, beginning next year and spreading through 2018, the brand is unleashing several remodels under the SPA banner. That includes a next-generation model of the popular Volvo S60 which is expected to arrive in the next four years.

Of course, that doesn't mean that every future new Volvo will incorporate the lithe SPA structure; quite the opposite. Currently the Swedes are kicking around an idea of introducing a smaller hatchback and sedan to rival those of their German competitors. Due to its delightfully pintsized exterior, the yet-to be named model will need an alternative platform to adhere to the different regulations.

Excitingly, all of these upcoming models incorporate the automaker's knack for luxury; not to mention the brand's impressive push for fuel-economy. Despite the difference in platforms, Volvo plans to replace thirsty six-cylinder engines for lively and efficient three- and four-cylinder options. If early speculations are accurate, these greener auto parts will be good for 204 horsepower and 306hp respectively.

For more information on the upcoming models from Volvo, of which there are many, we welcome you to swing by our showroom conveniently housed at 4104 41st Street in Moline, IL with any questions. During your visit we're happy to speculate on upcoming vehicles and detail specs of the autos already available!
