At McLaughlin Volvo, we're always looking for exciting stories about Volvo vehicles, and today we came across some interesting news that we knew we knew we had to share with you.

According to a recent press release, Volvo Cars and automotive safety technology company, Autoliv, will begin collaboration on an innovative project known as "Drive Me." The project focuses on the research and development of technologies related to autonomous driving (AD) vehicles. The project began in 2013, and by 2017 the companies hope to begin deploying the first of 100 AD vehicles that will be operated on a daily basis by families in Gothenburg, Sweden, Volvo's hometown.

Benefits of AD technology are many, ranging from more efficient road usage, to a decrease in traffic accidents. As Volvo chief executive Håkan Samuelsson put it: "The sooner we can develop the necessary technologies and start offering them in our cars the better.”
